Glossary — key terms on CTI
Who this is for: All members What you'll learn: What the words and phrases used across CTI mean, in plain language — no jargon.
Application A formal request you submit to be considered for an open job on the platform. You apply to a job posting and the recruiter reviews your application. An Application is different from an Association — applying means you are asking to be considered, not that you are already part of the team.
Aspirant A member profile type for performers and crew — actors, directors, cinematographers, makeup artists, dancers, and every other talent or craft role in the film and entertainment industry. Aspirants apply to jobs and can be invited to join projects and events.
Association A record that links you to a project, job, or event as an official team member. Associations are created automatically when you are added to a team (usually after accepting an invitation). They can appear on your public profile as credits.
Boost A paid feature that gives your profile or activity enhanced visibility on the platform — for example, appearing higher in search results or enabling you to apply to certain opportunities. Boosts are purchased separately from a subscription and are valid for a set period.
Catalogue The set of products and services that a Service Provider lists on CTI. The Catalogue is managed in the Service Provider's workspace and the listings appear in the Marketplace.
Complete profile A profile that has filled in all the minimum required fields for its type. Only a complete profile can be made searchable. You can still use the platform with an incomplete profile but some features will be restricted.
Deactivated A profile or account that has been switched off temporarily. A deactivated profile is not visible to other members and does not appear in search. The account and data are preserved — it is not a deletion.
Display ID
A unique, human-readable identifier given to each profile. It looks like a username (e.g. rajan.editor) and is used in your public profile link. Anyone who knows your Display ID can visit your public profile directly.
Event A production event listed on CTI — a shoot, an audition, a workshop, a screening, or any organised activity in the industry. Events can have team members, galleries, and an invitation process.
Gallery A collection of photos and media attached to a project, job, or event. Galleries let visitors see behind-the-scenes images and production material.
Grace Period A short window of continued access after a subscription expires or a payment fails. During a grace period you can still use certain features while you sort out the payment. Once the grace period ends, premium features are restricted.
Group A collection of members organised around a shared context — for example, a production house, a talent agency, or a community of practitioners. Groups can have their own gallery and team members.
Guardian An adult account holder who is responsible for a minor (under-18) member. Guardians must accept the platform's terms on behalf of the minor and can oversee the minor's profile.
Invitation A direct request sent to you asking you to join a project team, a job team, or an event. Unlike an application (which you send), an invitation comes to you. You can accept or decline.
Job Posting A listing created by a Recruiter advertising an open role or opportunity. Job postings include the role description, requirements, location, and how to apply.
Marketplace The section of CTI where Service Providers list their products and services — studios, equipment, makeup, costumes, post-production, and more. All logged-in members can browse the Marketplace and enquire about listings.
Moderation The process by which CTI's team reviews content (profiles, jobs, events, media) to ensure it meets the platform's Content Guidelines. Content may be approved, returned for changes, or removed.
My Drive Your private file storage on CTI. Files in My Drive are not visible to other members unless you explicitly share them. It is separate from your Showcase (which is public) and from Project Drive (which is shared with a project's team).
Private profile A profile that is complete but has been set to not appear in search results. Anyone with your direct link or Display ID can still visit your public profile, but you will not show up when someone searches the platform.
Profile Your identity on CTI — the public-facing page that shows your name, photo, roles, skills, showcase, and other relevant information. One account can have multiple profiles of different types.
Project A film, web series, short film, advertisement, or other production managed on CTI. Projects have a team of members, a Drive for shared files, galleries, and a lifecycle from creation to completion.
Project Drive Shared file storage for a project's team members. Unlike My Drive (which is personal), Project Drive files are accessible to all team members of that project, within their permitted role.
Recruiter A member profile type for casting directors, production houses, directors, and anyone who posts jobs, manages applications, and builds project teams on CTI.
Searchable A profile that appears in the Explore search results. To be searchable, your profile must be complete and you must have enabled the searchable setting. A private profile is not searchable.
Service Provider A member profile type for businesses and freelancers who offer products or services to the industry — studios, equipment suppliers, makeup artists, caterers, post-production houses, and more. Service Providers manage a Catalogue that appears in the Marketplace.
Shortlist A curated list of applicants that a Recruiter marks as strong candidates. Being shortlisted means the recruiter is seriously considering you. The shortlist is the recruiter's internal tool and you are notified when your status changes.
Showcase The public portfolio section of your profile. For Aspirants, this typically contains your video showreel and key portfolio media. Visitors to your profile can watch and view your showcase. It is distinct from your Gallery (additional behind-the-scenes media) and My Drive (private storage).
SPOC Short for Single Point of Contact. On a project or event, the SPOC is the designated person who is the main contact for coordination. This is an organisational role, not a separate profile type.
Subscription A paid plan that unlocks features and increases your limits on CTI — such as more storage, more job applications, or more job postings. Subscriptions are billed periodically and can be managed from the Billing section of your workspace.
Suspended An account or profile that has been temporarily restricted by CTI's moderation team, usually due to a policy violation. Suspended profiles cannot be accessed by the member until the suspension is lifted or resolved.
