Guide for Parents and Guardians
Who this is for: Parents, mothers, fathers, and legal guardians of minor talent who want to use Cine Talent India. What you'll learn: How to register as a guardian, link your child's account, understand the approvals queue, and support your child's career safely.
Overview
CTI allows minors to have talent accounts, but every minor's account must be paired with a guardian account. The guardian account is separate from the minor's own login. You each sign in independently, but the two accounts are linked. As a guardian, you receive approval requests whenever your child tries to take an action that requires your consent. You review those requests and either approve or reject them. Nothing proceeds without your say.
What is a Guardian account?
A Guardian account is a special profile type on CTI that exists solely to supervise and approve a linked minor's activities. Your guardian profile has minimal features compared to an Aspirant or Recruiter — it does not appear in talent search, does not post jobs, and does not have a public marketplace presence. Its purpose is oversight and safety.
As a guardian you can:
- Link one or more minor accounts to your guardian profile
- See a list of all linked minors
- View your child's profile in read-only mode (including profiles that are set to private)
- Receive and act on approval requests from your child's account
- Approve or reject those requests, with an optional note on rejections
Setting up
Creating a Guardian account
When you register on CTI you create a standard user account. On the profile creation screen, select Create Parent / Guardian Profile. This creates your guardian-type profile.
You do not need to be a talent yourself to create a guardian profile. You only need a valid registration.
Registering your child's account
Your child needs their own separate CTI account and Aspirant profile. Minor Aspirant profiles are created in the same way as any Aspirant profile — your child signs up and creates their profile.
Once both accounts exist, you link them from your Guardian Dashboard.
Linking a minor to your account
- Sign in to your guardian account.
- Go to the Guardian Dashboard (your home screen as a guardian).
- In the Add a Minor section, enter your child's CTI username or account details.
- Specify your relationship — Mother, Father, Legal Guardian, or Other (with a brief description).
- Submit the link request.
Once linked, your child's profile appears in your Linked Minors list on the dashboard.
The approvals queue
The approvals queue is where your job as a guardian happens. When your child tries to do certain things on CTI, the action is held and sent to you for approval before it goes ahead.
Actions that require your approval
The following five actions always require your approval when the account belongs to a minor:
| Action | What it means |
|---|---|
| Go Public | Your child wants to make their profile publicly visible so recruiters can find them. |
| Post to Showcase | Your child wants to publish a video to their Showcase. |
| Share from Drive | Your child wants to share a file or folder from their Drive with someone else. |
| Apply for a Job | Your child wants to submit a job application. |
| Message a Recruiter | Your child wants to send a message to a recruiter. |
When any of these actions is triggered, it is held in a Pending state. Your child sees a notice that the action is awaiting your approval. You receive a notification.
How approval requests arrive
You will receive an in-platform notification when there is a new approval request waiting. You can also check the Approvals Queue section on your Guardian Dashboard at any time.
How to approve or reject
- Open the Guardian Dashboard.
- Scroll to the Approvals Queue section.
- Each pending request shows:
- The type of action your child wants to take (Go Public, Apply for Job, etc.)
- Your child's display name
- When the request was made
- To approve: tap the green Approve button. The action proceeds immediately on your child's account.
- To reject: tap the red Reject button. A small text field appears where you can leave an optional note explaining the rejection. Tap Reject again to confirm. The action is cancelled, and your child sees that it was not approved.
Once you make a decision (approve or reject) it cannot be undone. The request is removed from the queue and a record is kept.
What happens if you do not act
The action stays in Pending indefinitely until you make a decision. Your child's action does not proceed on its own. There is no automatic approval.
Viewing your child's profile
From your Guardian Dashboard, under Linked Minors, you can tap your child's entry to view their profile. You see the profile as it is — even if it is private or incomplete. This is different from what a recruiter or the general public would see.
This view is read-only. You cannot edit your child's profile from your guardian account. Your child must edit their own profile when signed in to their account.
How recruiters are informed
When a recruiter views a minor's profile (after it has been approved to go public), they see a clear indicator that the profile belongs to a guardian-managed minor. This tells the recruiter that this talent is under parental supervision and that certain actions on the minor's side will need guardian approval before proceeding.
This transparency is designed to build trust and ensure recruiters are aware of their obligations when engaging with minors.
What minors can and cannot do without approval
Your child can do these things independently (no approval required):
- Sign in to their account
- Edit their profile information (name, bio, address, experience, skills, etc.)
- Upload photos and videos to their Gallery
- Browse jobs, events, and the Marketplace
- Read messages they receive
- Manage files in their own Drive (without sharing them)
Your child must wait for your approval before:
- Making their profile publicly visible
- Publishing a video to their Showcase
- Sharing a file or folder from their Drive
- Submitting a job application
- Sending a message to a recruiter
Common questions
What age counts as a minor? Anyone under 18 years of age is treated as a minor on CTI. Once your child turns 18, the guardian approval requirement falls away and they can act independently. Their profile is no longer flagged as guardian-managed.
Can the minor act on their own in an emergency? No. The five gated actions always go through the approval queue for minors. There is no bypass. Plan accordingly — if a deadline is approaching, act on the approval promptly.
What if I miss an approval request? The request stays pending until you decide. Your child cannot proceed without your decision, so there is no risk of an action happening by accident. Check your Guardian Dashboard regularly when your child is active on CTI.
Can my child have more than one guardian linked? In the current version, one minor can be linked to one guardian. Support for multiple guardians may be added in a future update.
Can I be a guardian for more than one child? Yes. You can link multiple minors to your guardian profile. Each minor appears separately in your Linked Minors list, and approvals from all of them appear in the same queue.
Does my child know I can see their profile? Yes. The guardian-linked relationship is visible to your child. The platform is designed so that both parties understand the arrangement.
Can the guardian account also be a talent account? Not on the same profile. A Guardian profile is its own profile type, focused on supervision. If you are also a talent or recruiter, you can create separate Aspirant or Recruiter profiles under the same CTI account. Switch between profiles from the profile selector.
What if I want to remove the guardian link? Contact CTI support to request removal of a guardian link. This should only be done when the minor turns 18 or if there is a legitimate change in the guardianship arrangement.
