Your public profile — what others see
Who this is for: Aspirants, Recruiters, and Service Providers What you'll learn: What a visitor sees on your public profile, what is kept private, how to share your profile link, and the difference between a searchable and a private profile.
Overview
Your public profile is the page that other people see when they visit your profile — whether they find you through search, receive your profile link, or spot you as a team member on a project. It is separate from your private workspace where you manage your settings, files, and messages. You control what your public profile shows through your workspace profile editor.
What visitors see on your public profile
A visitor to your public profile sees only the information you have chosen to make visible. This typically includes:
- Your display name and profile photo.
- Your hero image (the banner at the top of your profile, if you have set one).
- Your role (e.g. Actor, Director, Makeup Artist, Service Provider).
- Your bio or introduction.
- Your skills and specialisations.
- Your showcase — the video showreel and portfolio media you have added.
- Your gallery — additional photos and media.
- Details about your physical attributes, experience, or other role-specific fields you have filled in (for Aspirants).
- For Recruiters: your organisation details and the active projects or jobs you have made visible.
- For Service Providers: your Marketplace listings — the products and services you offer.
What is hidden from visitors
Visitors cannot see:
- Your private workspace, files, or My Drive.
- Your messages or internal correspondence.
- Applications you have submitted or received.
- Your subscription or billing information.
- Any section you have chosen not to fill in or have marked as private.
Your Display ID and profile link
Every profile has a Display ID — a unique, human-readable identifier that looks like arjun.actor or sunita.production. Your Display ID appears on your profile and can be shared as a direct link.
To find your Display ID:
- Go to your workspace and open your Profile page.
- Your Display ID is shown near the top of your profile, usually below your name.
To share your profile:
- Your public profile can be visited by anyone with your profile link — even people who are not logged in to CTI.
- Share your Display ID so others can look you up directly, or copy your profile link from your profile page.
Searchable vs private profiles
Your profile can be in one of two states:
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Searchable | Your profile appears in the Explore search results. Anyone on the platform can find you without already knowing your Display ID. |
| Private (complete but hidden) | Your profile is complete and your public profile page exists, but you do not appear in search results. Only someone with your direct link can visit your profile. |
You can switch between these states from your profile settings in your workspace. Choosing private is useful when you want control over who finds you — for example, if you are not currently looking for opportunities.
A profile that is incomplete cannot be made searchable. You need to reach a minimum level of completeness before you can turn on searchability.
Tips for making your profile stand out
- Add a clear profile photo. Profiles with a recognisable, professional photo get more attention.
- Set a hero image. A striking banner behind your name makes your profile visually memorable.
- Upload your showcase. For Aspirants in particular, a video showreel is one of the first things recruiters look for.
- Fill in your specialisations. The more specifically you describe what you do, the better your match with relevant opportunities.
- Keep your bio concise. Two or three sentences that capture who you are and what you bring are more effective than a long paragraph.
- Add your gallery. Behind-the-scenes photos, production stills, or portfolio shots give visitors more to engage with.
Common questions
Can someone see my profile if I have not made it searchable? Yes — if they have your Display ID or your direct profile link, they can still visit your public profile even when you are in private mode.
Can I turn off my public profile completely? Setting your profile to private removes you from search results. Your profile page still exists but is only accessible via a direct link. If you need further privacy, contact CTI support.
Does my Display ID ever change? Your Display ID is set when you create your profile. If you need to change it, contact support.
Can a visitor contact me through my public profile? This depends on your profile type and settings. Service Providers have a contact or enquiry option on their Marketplace listing. For other profile types, contact happens through the platform's messaging features once a connection is made (e.g. via an application or invitation).
Will my profile appear in search engines (Google, etc.)? Public profiles may be indexed by search engines. If you prefer not to appear in external search results, set your profile to private.
