Messaging and email
Who this is for: All members — Aspirants, Recruiters, and Service Providers What you'll learn: How messaging works on CTI, how to compose and read messages, how your inbox and sent/archive folders work, how job-related messaging works, and what unread indicators mean.
Overview
Cine Talent India has a built-in messaging system that lets members communicate without leaving the platform. This is not regular email — messages stay inside CTI and are not delivered to an external inbox. You do not need to share your personal email address to communicate with other members.
Messages are threaded, meaning a back-and-forth conversation between you and another person (or group) stays together in one thread so it is easy to follow.
How to compose a message
- Go to your workspace and select Email (or Messages) from the sidebar.
- Tap Compose (or the compose / pencil button).
- The compose form opens. Fill in the recipient and write your message.
- Tap Send when you are ready.
- Your message appears in your Sent folder and the recipient receives it in their inbox.
Your inbox, sent folder, and archive
Your messaging area has three main sections, accessible via tabs at the top of the page:
- Inbox — messages you have received. Unread messages are highlighted with an unread indicator (a badge or bold text).
- Sent — copies of messages you have sent.
- Archive — messages you have moved out of your inbox for tidiness. Archived messages are not deleted — you can still read them.
To move a message to the archive, open the message and select the archive option.
Reading a message thread
- Tap any message in your inbox (or sent / archive) to open it.
- The full thread appears — you can scroll to see all the messages in the conversation.
- To reply, type in the reply box at the bottom of the thread and tap Send.
Unread indicators
A badge on the Email (or Messages) sidebar item shows how many unread messages you have. Individual unread messages are highlighted in your inbox list. The count updates as you read messages.
Job-related messaging
Some messages on CTI are linked to a specific job posting rather than being a general message between two people. When you apply for a job or are involved in a job as a recruiter or project member, conversations about that job happen in the context of the job thread.
Key things to know about job-related messaging:
- Messages in a job thread are visible to the recruiter who posted the job, their designated point of contact (the SPOC — see below), and other authorised project or job members, not just the two people who wrote the messages.
- This is by design: it keeps all communication about a job in one place and makes it accessible to the right team members.
- The job thread appears in your inbox like any other message.
What is a SPOC? SPOC stands for Single Point of Contact. It is the specific team member a recruiter designates to handle communications for a particular job. If you message a recruiter about a job, the SPOC may be the person who responds.
Common questions
Can I message anyone on the platform? Your ability to message other members depends on your profile type and your subscription plan. Some messaging features may be limited. If you cannot compose a message to a particular person, your current plan may not include that feature.
Can I send messages to someone outside CTI (to a personal email)? No. The messaging system is internal to CTI. Messages only go to other CTI members who have an account on the platform.
Can the platform see my messages? CTI's moderation team may review messages if a member reports a concern. Your messages are not shared publicly.
How do I know if my message was read? Currently, read receipts are not shown. You will not see a "read" status on your sent messages.
Can I delete a message? You can archive a message to keep your inbox tidy. Permanently deleting a message may not be available in all cases — use Archive to move messages out of your active view.
My inbox seems to be missing a message someone says they sent. What should I do? First check your Archive in case the message was moved. If it is not there, ask the sender to try again. If the issue continues, contact support.
